Concert: Jason Aldean

jason-aldean-teaseJason Aldean brought his My Kinda Party Tour to the Amway Center in Orlando, and it was an evening of country party tunes.

The venue had a party atmosphere, including a DJ spinning tunes between performances (old school rock and country—no EDM).

Lauren Alaina, runner-up on the tenth season of American Idol, opened the show with a very short set. It’s hard to believe she is only 17. Luke Bryan played next with a longer set that featured his hit songs “Rain is a Good Thing” and “Someone Else Calling You Baby.” “Country Girl (Shake it for Me)” brought some funky honky-tonk to the party.

But the show was about Jason Aldean, and he delivered a great set of hits (six of his 12 singles reached number one on the Hot Country Songs charts).

He had a nice production with ramps and lighting fixtures that moved. And he moved too, sometimes playing to the fans behind the stage, and at one point, he did an acoustic set with Luke Bryan on a small stage at the far side of the arena so more fans could get a closer look. Lauren Alaina joined him for a duet on “Don’t You Wanna Stay.” And, yes, he rapped on “Dirt Road Anthem.”
